Summer was started as a project for my students to study how to make an art doll. She is 18″ high. It is not a miniature doll but still, I had to find a very fine fabric for her costume to keep the scale right.
As usually, aluminum wire is inside to make the sculpture steady. I use a papier-mache to gain volume of the body and for the last coat I use paper clay and premier. And after all of these steps is painting and costuming. Everything from the beginning was made by my hands.
Here is a few pictures I took through the process.
and a few more with details
Summer is in private collation now.
